Dear Members, Partners and Friends of the Institute,

Hosted by the Maritime Institute of Eastern Mediterranean and the Municipality of Larnaca, the CoRINThos’ 2nd Steering Committee and the 1st Scientific Committee meetings were successfully held in Larnaca, Cyprus on 13th and 14th November 2014. Representatives from the Associate partners consisting of the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport, the Chamber of Commerce Industry & Agriculture of Tripoli & North Lebanon, the Department of Civil Engineering and Geomatics – Cyprus University of Technology, the Federazione del Mare – Italian Maritime Cluster, the Hellenic Center for Marine Research, Marine Biology, Biotechnology & Aquaculture and the Maritime Cluster of Murcia participated at the meeting.

The CoRINThos Project, “Maritime Clusters supporting Research & Innovation to enhance Blue Economy Entrepreneurship”, commenced with the mapping of the current situation on a national and transnational level and defined the success factors characterizing maritime clusters through benchmarking with EU and international relevant best practices. It further elaborated on the triple helix matrix that will represent the backbone of the project’s research methodology.

During the 2nd Steering Committee meeting administrative and financial aspects of the projects were also discussed along with technical details regarding the finalization of the project’s deliverables.

The 1st Scientific Committee meeting commenced with a general overview on the project and its accomplishments in the initial period of the project followed by the presentation of the Triple Helix Matrix objective which expanded on the methodology and its expected results
